The Brothers Grimm

I watched The Brothers Grimm (and many others in the last while that I didn't have the energy to post about) today. I really didn't know much about it, which is unusual since I'm sure it was promoted like crazy, and so I watched it with Kai, who is six. That was sort of a mistake. Down's or not, he really shouldn't have watched it. I, on the other hand, rather enjoyed it. Even though the copy I watched was rather dark, I suspect the movie is supposed to be dark. Heath Ledger did a fantastic job of playing Jacob, who seems to live life like it is a fairy tale, and Matt Damon did his usual Will Hunting. I just can't stand watching his movies because they all remind me of Good Will Hunting. I guess it's back to the one character argument I gave a while back. He just can't act. Or, wait, he can, but he only has one character in him and he gives that performance every time. I know some would argue that in the Bourne series he doesn't do this, but for me he does. A good movie, though. --7.5/10

Oh, another movie I watched a week or two ago was Lords of Dogtown. What a wicked show! I know there was a documentary made about the same group of guys, Peralta, Adams, and Alva, and I wish I would have seen it, but maybe it would have ruined this movie for me. If you're at all interested in the skateboard movement in Southern California in the late 60's and early 70's, you should definately see this movie. It might not be 100% factual, but it is all together entertaining. --9/10
